Upgrade Policy for Pro License

When you initially purchase a Pro license for our software or when you purchase an upgrade for the Pro license, you may request all minor releases and major releases of the software at no additional charge for one year from the date of purchase.

A minor release is a version of the software that introduces a limited amount of new features, new functionality, and improved performance. It may also provide fixes for problems identified in a current release. A minor release is shown by a change in the digits to the right of the decimal point, e.g., from version 3.2 to 3.3, or from version 5.71 to 5.72.

Some minor releases are appropriate only for specific software or hardware configurations. You can check the Version History on the Support page to see if you need a new version of the software.

A major release is a version of the software that contains major functional enhancements or major changes to maintain compatibility with a new version of Excel. A major release is shown by a change in the digits to the left of the decimal point, e.g., from version 7.0 to 8.0.

To request a minor release or major release within one year from the date of purchase, send an email to Mike Middleton <Mike@TreePlan.com> with information about your purchase (order number, date of purchase, or email address used for the online order). We will verify your purchase and send the new release as a ZIP file email attachment.

After one year from the date of purchase, you may purchase the current release with a 50% discount. Send an email to Mike Middleton <Mike@TreePlan.com> with information about your purchase (order number, date of purchase, or email address used for the online order). We will verify your purchase and send you a coupon code to obtain the 50% discount when you purchase via reseller SWREG.

Tax-Exempt Purchase

There are three methods for purchasing our software with a sales tax exemption, depending on (a) whether you use the purchase order process or use a credit card and (b) which state you are located in.

If you use the purchase order process directly with TreePlan Software, you will not be charged sales tax. Please follow the steps in the Purchase Orders section of our Purchase web page. We accept your payment by check.

Our e-commerce provider SWREG (Digital River) handles all of our credit card purchases using its secure web site.

SWREG has a business presence in many states, so generally SWREG must collect and remit sales tax for credit card sales to customers in those states.

If you use a credit card to purchase via SWREG and you are not located in one of the states where SWREG does not have a business presence, you will not be charged sales tax (whether or not you have tax exempt status).

If you use a credit card to purchase via SWREG and you are located in one of the states where SWREG has a business presence, SWREG will initially charge sales tax. After SWREG receives documentation of your tax-exempt status, SWREG will process a credit card refund for the tax amount.
